This roundtable discussion details Dr. Ternikar's path to studying Muslim Indian immigrant women in the United States. As an intersectional and interdisciplinary scholar in Sociology, Food Studies and Women's Studies, her work has brought her to critical feminist wellness studies.
Her interdisciplinary work on Muslim women explores how we understand the role of food for women of color in building communities and transnational feminist foodways. The talk suggests the importance of feminist theories and praxis for ongoing scholarship, dialogue and conversation.
Students, faculty, and staff are also invited to a wellness and writing roundtable with Dr. Ternikar on Tuesday, April 23, 8:30-9:30 am, in Cameron 135 and to meet informally at Thoughtful Cup, 4/23 from 10 am-11 am.
