Anusara – an insightful approach to yoga that arose from Iyengar yoga and was refined forward by its founder John Friend.

Asana  - a posture preformed in Hatha yoga

Ashtanga – from ashto (eight) and anga (path), hence, the eight limed path of yoga – yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, & Samadhi.  Also, the name of the yoga style taught by Sri K. Patabhi Jois.

 Bandha -  a lock or bind in one or all of three places along the central axis of the body, used to charge and refine all movement. They are:  
•Mulabandha – at the end of spine and perineum  
•Uddiyana Bandha - in the abdomen
•Jalandhara Bandha – throat lock

 Chakra – energy centers of the subtle body located along its central axis
•Mooladhara – perineal body/cervix  - practical life actions and issues
•Swadhisthana – between naval and pubic bone – creativity
•Manipura – just above the navel - energy
•Anahata – heart – emotion / the openness of universal Love
•Vishuddhi – throat - communication
•Ajna – third eye – seeing inside / seeing the whole
•Sahasrara – crown – expansion / ascension

Dharana – uninterrupted mental concentration exercises

Dhyana – meditation practice that builds upon the strength created by Dharana

Elysian Fields - from Greek mythology.  A Heaven level.  a place of bliss

Iyengar – a type of yoga named after its founder, Sri BKS Iyengar

Kriya  -  cleansing movement.

Namasté – a salutation offering the highest spiritual intentions between individuals.

Niyama – observances (Do’s)
•Saucha - cleanliness (mind & body)
•Santosha - contentment
•Tapas - heat, austerity, fervor
•Svadhyaya - self study
•Isvarapranidhana – Do everything you do,with God in your mind

 Om – the resonant sound of the universe, used as an invocation to inner Silence.

 Prana – universal life force sensed through breathing practices.

 Pranayama – a method of controlling prana or life force through the regulation of breathing

Pratyahara – drawing the senses from the external world to the internal self

Sadhana – the practices of concentrated spiritual quest

Samadhi – Union – a pinnacle transcendent state of advances meditation,usually understood to be occurring as a result of steady application of the other seven limbs of yoga

Vinyasa – movement linked with breath.  Patterned sequencing of yoga postures.

Yama – restraints (Don’ts)
•Ahimsa - nonviolence
•Satya - truthfulness
•Asteya - nonstealing 
•Brahmacharya - chastity 
•Aparigraha - greedlessness
